How to Fight Fatigue

More often than not, a couple of early nights puts things right. However, the root cause of tiredness might be more than lack of sleep. Try these tips to help restore your energy levels:

Hydration

Even mild dehydration can slow us down physically and mentally. Rather than drinking copious amounts of plain water, the best way to hydrate your cells fast is to drink water naturally boosted with electrolyte minerals (such as sodium and potassium) and some glucose. For instant hydration, coconut water or a freshly pressed juice of apple, cucumber and celery facilitates water up-take at a cellular level.

Cinnamon

Keeping a calm mind and steady energy starts with balanced blood sugar levels. If you find yourself craving sweet or starchy things regularly, try including some (preferably organic) cinnamon powder with your breakfast, or sip cinnamon tea when you notice the cravings kicking in. Cinnamon has been shown to normalise blood sugar and fat levels, including LDL cholesterol.

Magnesium

Magnesium is involved in 300+ enzymatic reactions biochemically. Due to its calming effect, it is considered ‘Nature’s tranquiliser’. It is also critical for energy production, mood balancing and detoxification. Unfortunately due to modern farming practices, it is increasingly difficult to get adequate magnesium from our food as our soil is progressively becoming depleted in this important mineral.

Magnesium is generally well absorbed through the skin. Take a 20-30 minute bath in Epsom Salts (Magnesium Sulphate) 2-3 times per week to boost your magnesium levels, increase calm and aid restful sleep. Being well rested is vital for long lasting energy production.
