Health and Wellness Trends 2020

Learn how to thrive and live your healthiest year yet!

As we welcome 2020 with open arms, we’re set to embrace a wave of new health and wellness trends which aim to increase our vitality, reduce stress and get us sleeping better.

Last year was about exercising smarter with virtual technology, mindfulness and improving gut health with functional foods. This year however, the focus is on sustainable beauty, maximising plant-based eating and napping on the go.

If combating fatigue, boosting your nutrition and being more Eco-friendly are at the top of your list of New Year’s resolutions, here are some wellness trends to watch out for in 2020.

Health Trends in 2020

Plant Based Food is Set to Skyrocket!

Plant based diets are set to soar in 2020 as a major trend

In 2019, plant-based eating became mainstream. Veganism is no longer a “hippy” trend, it’s a dietary choice people are making to improve their health.

Adopting a plant-based diet not only decreases your carbon footprint, it can help reduce inflammation in the body, improve cardiovascular function and prevent chronic diseases such as diabetes and autoimmune conditions.

Going meat-free (and in some cases dairy-free) has never been easier. You can now find plenty of meat and dairy alternatives in the shops. Plus, there are lots of choices when eating out as healthy, plant-based fast-food outlets continue to pop up everywhere.

Snacks To Help You Sleep

A rise in the trend of snacks to help you sleep are a trending wellness craze 2020

Over the past few years we’ve seen a range of sleep-promoting products flood the market, from sleepy herbal teas to lavender eye masks. In 2020, an assortment of sleep-inducing snacks will be available at health stores in a bid to give us a restful night’s sleep. Think Melatonin-rich dried cherry cookies, baked products sprinkled with lavender powder and Valerian-infused hot chocolates.

The Rise of Virtual Wellness

Virtual wellness is going to sweep the decade ahead and is a major health & wellness trend of 2020

With our increasingly busy lives, it’s no wonder that virtual wellness is set to be the big thing of the future. In order to fit in daily exercise, self-care and wellness regimes, people are looking for wellness products and services that are flexible and versatile to fit into their everyday routines. From interactive mirrors and online fitness classes to in-home wellness retreats, you’ll be able to access high-quality wellness and fitness programs at the click of a button.

Sustainable Beauty Products

Sustainable and eco-friendly beauty products are a big wellness trend for 2020

With plastic waste and global pollution at an all-time high, the reduction of plastic packaging has never been more important. Environmentally-friendly packaging is not a new concept, however, beauty brands are now introducing novel ways to make their packaging more sustainable.

The focus for 2020 will be about refilling and reusing. Big brands like Unilever plan to make all their packaging fully reusable, recyclable and compostable by 2025, with some even going plastic-free, switching to stainless steel packaging instead

Make it Your Year To Thrive

Going meat-free, opting for reusable packaging and trying out virtual wellness will not only improve your health, it’ll support the environment too. By feeling more rejuvenated and energised, you can make 2020 your year to thrive!
