Herbal Medicine Short Course

This herbal medicine short course, Herbs for Everyday Living, is an introduction to Western herbal medicine and naturopathic tradition. Students will get an understanding of the most common and powerful culinary herbs and spices to use as medicines and foods.

The course provides knowledge of how herbs can support the health of the whole family, what herbs can be used in some common conditions, and how to incorporate them in everyday recipes. It also offers students an opportunity for hands-on experience with herbs they may not have seen in a whole form before and to learn how to grow, gather and harvest plants safely.

This Herbal Short course teaches you:

  • How to use herbs safely for common complaints, such as digestive issues, headache, common cold, low mood and energy.

  • How to detoxify and cleanse with herbs and nutrition.

  • What kitchen herbs boost the immunity, aid the prevention of disease and maintain health.

  • How to grow herbs, forage them and make your own herbal first aid kit.

About the Course

Almost all societies have traditionally used herbs for their amazing nutritional benefits as well as their therapeutic powers. Not only are herbs and spices a great way to add more flavour to your food, they also offer many health benefits. Herbs (fresh or dried) can be used to season food and herbal teas can be incredibly helpful with a variety of issues due to the health-enhancing effects of the herbs.

CNM’s in-class Herbs for Everyday Living short course is designed to teach students how to use herbs to address daily ailments and what herbs can be used to support different life stages such as pregnancy, menopause or old age. There are lots of examples and recipes on how to make homemade herbal syrups, teas and decoctions. Running over two weekends, the Herbs for Everyday Living course is created for anybody who wants to learn more about the incredible power of herbs.

About the lecturer

Sandra Collazo, mANP

Qualifications: Diploma in Naturopathy and Herbal Medicine

Sandra has held a strong believe in natural approaches to health since childhood. She is a passionate advocate of health education and what sets her apart is her ability to take Naturopathic concepts and transform them into practical information that is easy to understand and apply.
