How to Relieve Stress

Are you constantly hungry, craving sweet or salty foods? Are you gaining weight around the middle? Have you got problems with sleeping? Does your pain threshold seem to be really low? Are you constantly catching a cold, feeling weak and tired? Has your digestion not been the best lately, with bloating, gas, belly aches, constipation or diarrhoea?

All the above signs and symptoms could be consequences of chronic stress that is very harmful to us. We have to understand that stress is a normal human response that helps a body to adjust to new situations. It keeps us alert, motivated and ready to avoid danger. But when we are exposed to stress constantly without periods of relaxation, it becomes quite problematic. What can we do to keep it under control?

The How to Relieve Stress course teaches you:

  • How to identify possible stressors and avoid them.

  • The three stages of stress response and how they affect the body.

  • Key herbal strategies to calm heightened nervous system activity.

  • What amino acids are needed the most in case of chronic stress

How Do We Get Into Distress?

Stress is an activation of the nervous system. It is simply a reaction to a situation that calls for a reaction. What makes stress good or bad is the way we perceive it. So if we think of stress as helpful and motivating vs. negative and debilitating, we can transform the way it affects us.

The problem is that, over time, the accumulation of everyday stress responses in the body and mind can erode our sense of well-being and lead to low moods and a feeling of being on edge all the time. That’s when stress becomes distress.

Distress creates constant discomfort and tension. It presents us with challenges we don’t have the skills to handle and may lead to anxiety disorders if not addressed.

When the stressful event or situation ends, we usually experience relief. However, the mind and body can become accustomed to a state of distress. As a result, our brains and behaviour patterns are conditioned to go into that state more easily.
