How to Relieve Stress

Have you got problems with sleeping? Does your pain threshold seem to be really low? Are you gaining weight around the middle, feeling weak and tired, and craving sweet or salty foods? Has your digestion not been the best lately, with bloating, gas, tummy-aches, constipation or diarrhoea?

All the above signs and symptoms could be consequences of chronic stress that is very harmful to us. We have to understand that stress is a normal human response that helps a body to adjust to new situations. It keeps us alert, motivated and ready to avoid danger. But when we are exposed to stress constantly without periods of relaxation, it can become quite problematic. What can we do to keep it under control?

The How to Relieve Stress course teaches you:

  • How to reduce exposure to obvious stressors in your life.

  • What nutrients your body needs most when exposed to stress.

  • How chronic stress affects your digestion, immunity, fertility and mood.

  • What the key herbs are that help you to relax and aid with restful sleep.

How Do We Get Into Distress?

Stress is an activation of the nervous system. It is simply a reaction to a situation that calls for a reaction. What makes stress good or bad is the way we perceive it. So if we think of stress as helpful and motivating vs. negative and debilitating, we can transform the way it affects us.

The problem is that, over time, the accumulation of everyday stress responses in the body and mind can erode our sense of well-being and lead to low moods and a feeling of being on edge all the time. That’s when stress becomes distress.

Distress creates constant discomfort and tension. It presents us with challenges we don’t have the skills to handle and may lead to anxiety disorders if not addressed.

When the stressful event or situation ends, we usually experience relief. However, the mind and body can become accustomed to a state of distress. As a result, our brains and behaviour patterns are conditioned to go into that state more easily.
