Pulse diagnosis is the single most important diagnostic tool in Chinese Medicine. Reading the pulse allows the practitioner to validate their diagnosis and to fine-tune the treatment to the needs of the client.
This practical one-day workshop will cover basic pulse taking skills that will be directly relevant to your clinical practice as a naturopathic nutritionist, naturopath, herbalist, or homeopath. The course will emphasise practical pulse taking skills that are easy to learn and to put into practice.
You will be able to assess key aspects of a person’s health by taking the pulse:
The strength of the Lungs and their ability to defend the body against external pathogens (immunity).
The overall strength of the digestive system.
Hydration levels and the various degrees of dehydration.
The overall nutritive quality of the blood and the various degrees of blood deficiency.
The presence of heat / inflammation, be it systemic or affecting a particular organ (e.g. liver, lungs, bladder).
The presence of chronic internal cold.
Whether someone is adrenally fatigued.
The focus of this workshop is to equip participants with the skill and confidence to identify an imbalance by reading the pulse. The workshop will not cover therapeutic approaches, as these will depend on your specialism.
The workshop will be delivered by Attila Szanto, former CNM Acupuncture Diploma Course Director and current Lecturer and Clinical Supervisor at CNM London. With many years of teaching and clinical experience, Attila has trained and mentored numerous practitioners in the principles and practical application of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He specialises in pulse, tongue and face diagnosis and Chinese dietary therapy.
“This was a wonderful workshop and I feel deeply appreciative of having such an inspiring person running it. I would readily do another workshop and really it needs to be two days.”

“It was a fantastic course, and I would absolutely recommend it to others. My one suggestion is that it’s offered as a two-day course, rather than trying to fit it all into a single day. Attila is clearly an excellent teacher; he really took the time to engage and explain, didn’t leave any student behind, and was great with questions.”

“Thanks to The College of Naturopathic Medicine for providing all of these extremely intricate courses in measured formats.
I really feel that the school has integrity … which is so needed in this world.”
