Indian Head Massage course

This course will qualify you to perform a professional 45-minute Indian Head Massage. Based on ancient Ayurvedic principles, Indian Head Massage helps to relieve stress, reduce tension and improve flexibility in the shoulders, neck and arms. It boosts circulation which can increase energy levels, improve insomnia, relieve sinusitis, headache and migraine, enhance brain function and help to reduce hair loss, premature balding and greying.

Performed over clothing, Indian Head Massage focuses on the upper back, shoulders, upper arms, neck, scalp, face and ears using a range of different techniques including Champi, Tabla, Plucking and Chakra Balancing. Due to its simplicity and portability which allows it to be practised anywhere and everywhere, this versatile manual treatment can be given at home, in a clinic or in the office.

Indian Head Massage course teaches you:

  • How to reduce tension and increase flexibility in stressed and overworked muscles.

  • The benefits of improving circulation of blood and cerebrospinal fluid, as well as lymphatic drainage.

  • Where to locate pressure points alongside cheekbones that stop sinus pain, headache and migraine.

  • How massaging the head encourages the supply of oxygen to the brain which reduces anxiety and depression, and lifts mood.

What our students say

“I just wanted to say thank you for teaching us the IHM course over the long weekend. You made it so enjoyable and informative, and the group of people doing the course were all so enthusiastic and lovely.

It makes such a difference learning and practising on other people in the room. Everyone was so unique and the experience was incredibly valuable.

My friends are really looking forward to me practising on them for my case studies. “

About the course

The Indian head Massage course runs over three days and provides students with thorough theoretical knowledge about the musculoskeletal system, focusing on the muscles, bones, tendons and ligaments in the upper body and the head, the cardiovascular and nervous system and skin, as well as different factors affecting the health of the above-mentioned body systems.

The main part of the course is to master the practical technique of how to perform this health-enhancing massage, what type of oils to use according to the client’s skin type, how to adapt the classical procedure in case of certain health conditions, and what to focus on if you want to form a professional therapeutic relationship with a client.
