TRAINING SUCCESSFUL PRACTITIONERS

Ayurvedic Breathwork Workshop

Description

CNM London: 13th September 2026

Yoga, Ayurveda, and breathwork share a common goal: supporting balance, vitality, and self-awareness through simple, time-tested practices. Rooted in ancient traditions, these systems offer powerful yet practical tools for understanding how movement, breath, and daily habits influence physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing—making them increasingly relevant in today’s fast-paced world.

This workshop provides a clear and practical introduction to the integrated principles of Yoga, Ayurveda, and therapeutic breathwork. Designed for both individuals who wish to support their own wellbeing and holistic practitioners looking to expand their professional skills, it brings together traditional wisdom and accessible, evidence-informed practices that can be applied immediately in everyday life and professional settings.

Grounded in classical teachings yet adapted for modern lifestyles, the workshop explores how mindful movement, conscious breathing, and lifestyle awareness can work together to restore balance within the body–mind system. Participants will gain simple, effective tools to support resilience, enhance wellbeing, and cultivate a more sustainable approach to health.

Across the session, participants will:

  1. Discover key Ayurvedic concepts—including the doshas, elements, digestive fire, and daily rhythms—and how they relate to health and wellbeing.
  2. Learn simple, adaptable yoga practices that support grounding, mobility, and energetic balance.
  3. Explore breathwork techniques designed to calm, uplift, or stabilise the system, with clear guidance on when and how to use them safely.
  4. Integrate these tools into therapeutic or educational practice, enhancing client care through gentle, effective, and evidence-informed approaches.

This workshop is suitable for both practitioners in holistic and naturopathic modalities and anyone interested in learning practical, time-honoured approaches to health and wellbeing that can be easily adapted to modern life.

The workshop will be delivered by Smita Thakrar, a holistic health practitioner and educator with over 20 years’ experience in yoga, herbal medicine, and naturopathy. A qualified Herbalist, Naturopath, Certified Yoga and Meditation Teacher, and Health Coach, Smita specialises in stress regulation, sleep, digestion, hormonal balance, and restoring physiological resilience. Smita draws on the Himalayan yoga tradition, with a strong emphasis on breathwork and meditation, and bridges classical yogic philosophy with modern therapeutic practice. She is the founder of In8 Space in London and a lecturer in Herbal Medicine with an Ayurvedic perspective at the College of Naturopathic Medicine.

“I used it in practice the very next day. Bought my sandbag to ground myself too! Such a great session and I could really see how to blend it into my work as a health coach for women in a practical way. Some easy actions to blend Ayurvedic principles into everyday life!”
