I am practising in New York
CNM has a global network and reputation. Their courses are recognised by many US associations, which made it very easy for me to move to New York and be a recognised Nutritional Therapist in this energetic city.
I didn’t take CNM’s Nutrition Diploma in order to change career, as I’d been happily working for Unilever in finance and investments. I did it because I’ve always been interested in nutrition and health, and to add a new dimension to my work and my life outside work.
However, since graduating from CNM in London, and transferring my base to New York, I have gotten involved in rolling out wellbeing programmes for Unilever’s 170,000 global employees, educating them on the role of nutrition.
I also started working with my local GP practice in New York, providing education to GPs and their patients on taking a holistic and nutritional approach to achieving optimal health and well-being. I thoroughly enjoy the combination of the day job and working in a clinical environment. I feel very lucky to have been given the opportunity to do both as it’s my personal life goal to help others feel good. It was CNM’s course that gave me the skills, tools and confidence to educate and inspire others to optimise their health and wellbeing. When I was based in London and started researching where I could find a course in a central location, that suited my lifestyle and studying around a full-time job, I knew that I also needed a solid foundation in Biomedicine before even starting to think about nutrition. CNM covered everything I needed to learn and more, plus the chance to apply my theoretical skills in the student clinic.
‘Western diseases’ are very common in the US. Most people are confused these days about how to be healthy, thanks to food companies’ marketing campaigns, and conflicting research. That said, there is now an enormous interest here in natural therapies and a growing number of practitioners. I see a bright future for natural therapies as people become more aware of the role they play in long-term health and well-being.
I'm living my dream in California
I had eczema my whole life and acne since I was a teenager. I was taught how to manage my condition with steroid creams, antibiotics etc. but it never got to the crux of the issue. I started doing my own research and began to find out that skin health was largely related to the state of our gut, our detoxification potential, and food intolerances etc, also the way that we deal with stress. The more research I did the more interested I became. I loved it so much that I knew that I wanted a career based around health, nutrition and helping people to realize their full potential in life, where I could be my own boss.
At CNM in Belfast I got to study a subject that I loved and was genuinely interested in. The lecturers were very enthusiastic and I made some wonderful lifelong friends at the college. I graduated in August 2015 with a Diploma in Nutritional Therapy.
Now I have achieved a dream of mine and moved to California, where I run Lucy Magee Nutrition and see clients between Los Angeles and San Diego. I am currently working with a Hollywood Actress as her nutritionist. I’m in a career that I absolutely love! I get so much joy out of helping people to become the best versions of themselves possible. There’s an ever increasing need in today’s society, and I plan to extend my health business in the UK, Ireland, and America. The sky is the limit!

CNM validated my belief that our health is in our hands
Andrea Grandson, CNM Graduate in Naturopathic Nutrition
As soon as I enrolled at CNM I felt validated in my belief that our health is in our hands, and that with the right support and guidance we can all achieve optimal health. Today I get to fulfill on this belief by running online group programs and individual consultations from my home office in Los Angeles.
Outside of this I work part-time for the National Association of Nutrition Professionals (NANP) the US equivalent to the ANP, who’s mission is to advocate for and empower a flourishing community of professionals dedicated to the principles of holistic nutrition.
CNM provided the foundation for me to live a life I love, and live it powerfully!
I am so happy I found the school I like in CNM!
Lyudmyla Fischer, CNM Graduate in Naturopathic Nutrition
I wanted to share my experience I had with American online schools. Unfortunately alternative medicine is not regulated in the USA. Many holistic/alternative medicine American schools provide only a few hours or none of anatomy/physiology and zero knowledge on diseases. Practical exams look more like an advertisement for the school than a real exam. Other written exams do not look like exams but more like homework which can be done any time during the entire course. Live lectures means reading handouts during the entire course. I studied in a few schools locally and online. They were all pretty much the same. One online college did not even provide lectures and when I asked for these, I got someone’s videos from YouTube which everyone can listen to for free and which did not even belong to that college. Thankfully I was experienced enough to understand that I would not learn anything again and had my fees refunded.
I am so happy I found the school I like in CNM! I have gained so much knowledge already. Thank you very much for all your help and support.
